the cross is not a symbol of christianity, it was always in existence during the time of moses.
Deuteronomy 21:22
“If a man has committed a sin deserving of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree,
One of the way to punish a sinner during the time of moses is to hang them in the cross.
Leviticus 20:14 If a man marries a woman and her mother, it is wickedness. They shall be burned with fire, both he and they, that there may be no wickedness among you.
Another way of punishing the sinner is to burn him. The bible states above that if a man takes a woman and her mother for a wife, they should be burnt that there may be no wickedness among the people of God.
Another way of punishing the sinner is stoning to death.
Another way of punishing the sinner is by hanging to death, this is to reveal that the person is a criminal. This is exactly what happened to the lord Jesus christ.
Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
Christ became the curse and the punishment of our sins. Even though the Romans found out that the lord Jesus christ was not guilty, they crucified so that the demand of God for our redemption might be complete.
So a crucifix is only a sign of punishment, it is not a Christian sign.
Some are idolizing the crucifix today saying it is a sign of the works of Jesus, but it is not so.
