This topic came up when I read about a story and it goes like this;
There was a Chinese farm worker who recently lost his horse, and everyone in the town practically and effectively tormented him with harsh things like "that's horrible, how would you and your son live," to which he responded that perhaps it is terrible, horrible or dreadful, but he is unsure.
Seven wild horses returned to his property the following day, stunning him, but he embraced and accepted them and cared for them. When others came over to tell him that having seven horses for freely after missing his one was amazing, he said, "Well, maybe," to their comments.
A few days later, the farmer's son was brought out on one of the wild horses, and when returning home, an accident happened that tragically resulted in the loss of the farmer's son's leg. Upon hearing this, everyone in the town gathered and said, "This is horrible now, isn't it?" The farmer then retorted, "Well, maybe," and he grinned while doing so.
A few days later, compulsory military service officers came to town to take people into the armed forces to fight for their home nation, and they passed by his son because of his fractured leg, and when every person in town heard this, they returned and told him, "that's awesome now, isn't it?" And he responded once more, "well, maybe"...
The conclusion I'm attempting to get is that none of us really knows if the events in our lives are truly either advantageous or detrimental, favorable or adverse in the sense that we can't predict how they will influence us in the long run or what they will attract or repel in terms of our personal lives.
In addition, we may encounter obstacles not simply because they're bad but rather because they are making preparations us for the great days when we will require the thoughts and feelings we gathered during those times of hardship. Some bad things may be happening in our lives right now, and we may not realize that they are merely shielding us from other events that we may not be able to withstand or overcome.
We currently experience some pleasures that, despite the guilt we experience while engaging in them, make us enjoy them to such an extent that we don't consider them to be inherently bad. Unfortunately, we don't consider ending these pleasures until they have already begun to negatively impact us, at which point regrets begin to set in.
Everything and anything that takes place throughout our lives has a purpose, regardless of whether we're always conscious of it. ask God for guidance and the wisdom to understand all challenges set before you.
