It is the Holy Spirit that directs the path of the church, of a person, of a member of the church. By ourselves we cannot do it, like what the Apostle Paul experienced when he was a member of Judaism, being a member of a false way of worship in his time, we do not say that Judaism is always wrong, it was started in the time of Moses, so it is a true religion, but as time passed by, it became a harlot and that's the reason Apostle Paul was called from Judaism into the church of God.Galatians 1:13;
"For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it."
Paul persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it. During those times in Judaism, he confessed what he feels in the flesh. Romans 7:19-20;
19 "For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it."
That is why when he was first converted to Christianity from Judaism, the first thing he was advised to do by the Lord was to wash away his sins. Acts 22:16
"And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
After that, he was able to dominate his entire being through the Power Of the Holy Spirit, he cannot be any more dictated to, by sins. He is now able to control his being, his body. 1Corinthians 9:27;
He was now able to subdue his passions, his flesh, his body through the power of the Holy Spirit. So alone and without the help of God, the power of the Holy Spirit, you cannot right what is wrong in you, if you are going to stay in a religion where there's no Holy Spirit to guide you, I'm sorry to say that you will loose the battle against the evil that is in you.
