I believe that not eating meat and other rituals associated with Good Friday are mere outward display of sympathy and holiness. However, if they're from a sincere heart, I don't see them as bad as such.
I see the dawn of the first day of the week cited in Mt.28:1-5 as the dawn of Sunday which Jesus resurrected. I'm just hearing that Jesus was buried on a Wednesday for the first time.
The dawn is not a fixed time, but a range of time. So, the two Marys might have gone to the tomb, not early enough, but after the resurrection that morning.
I had thought that the Sabbath of Jn.19:31 was on a Friday, because the Sabbath starts in the evening of Friday.
But, my eye has been opened to the Sabbath of "a high day" by this episode which I have not paid attention to previously. I thank Bro. Eli for his efforts in explaining the Bible.
Thank God brother Ubani
