In a family, each member has their own respective duties. A man should not abstain from his duties and push them over to his wife. There's nothing wrong with the wife bringing her own contribution to the family, but it is absolutely wrong for a main to be idle while his wife takes all the burdens of the family on her shoulders.
One of the things that make up a man is taking up responsibilities. A man is not supposed to run away from his responsibilities but to face them. As a husband and a father, one of the major responsibilities is to provide for the family. Here's what the bible has to say about someone who fails to carry out his responsibilities in his family:
It is the duty of a man to take care of his own. The wife and the kids are looking up to him to do so. The book of Ephesians 5:33 admonishes husbands to love their wives. One of the clear signs of love is when you provide for that person which you love. If you're not providing for your family and you claim to love them, then something is wrong somewhere.
1 Peter 3:1 - Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives
Wives also have their own duty the are meant to carry out. One of the primary duties of a wife is to subject themselves to their husbands. The man is superior over the woman and the woman should respect that. In the hierarchy of a family, God placed the man as the head. The position of the wife is to be a help meet to the man.
