Love means different things for a lot of people. For some people, love is an affection for someone. For some people, love should only be expressed if they can get something in return. While for some other people, there should be conditions that should be met before you can love someone. Brother Daniel examines a scripture to help us understand the manner of love we ought to observe.
Matthew 5:43 - Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 - But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.
If love is been expressed genuinely, it shouldn't come with conditions. We shouldn't be selective when it comes to love. If we love some kind of people; be it family or close friends, and then have hatred for other people, then we have not gotten the true concept of love.
The truth is that today, alot of people have problem when it comes to loving one another; most especially their enemies. God wants us to love all men equally. No matter the wrong deed someone did against us, we shouldn't hate them. Instead we should love them.
We should do good to all men. We are admonished in Galatians 6:10 to not faint in good works, especially to those in the household of faith. We should not fail to express love to our fellow brethrens by helping them in times of need.
