So civic responsibilities look dangerous to engage with as christians. It is not that those professions are sinful but sometimes we are fearful of what will be our judgement in the sight of God. Our lack of adequate understanding of what we might face at the judgement seat of God gives us this inner fear.
Many christians do not want to join the armed forces of their nation because they are afraid of being condemned by God for taking another man’s life. But the Bible has examples how these kinds of cases should be handled.
God commanded Moses to constitute an army and fight the enemies that confronted them while they were on their way to the promised land. Joshua fought many wars in order to dislodge the Canaanites and possess the land the God gave to them. The children of Israel had an army and even the great King David had killed many people. So, being in the army is not a sin.
