The Bible is the book which contains God's instructions for us. It is the word of God which can help us to live a meaningful life. Without following the Word of God we cannot live a life that pleases God. We receive the direction for our lives from the word of God. We live in the light of the word of God.
For us to truly please God in our lives, we must understand what the Word of God is telling us. When we hear the word of God, we should also understand what we are hearing and assimilate it into our hearts to practice what we are hearing. To be doers of God's Word we need to fully understand the Bible.
Many people hear but they do not understand. They hear what is being preached. They hear what is being read. But they do not understand what they hear. That is why most people cannot obey the word of God. It is because what they hear has not entered into their hearts. They have not assimilated what they have heard. We should hear and listen. Listening involves understanding and assimilating what we have heard.
