Storing public information in an uncensorable way is an interesting prime challenge of our time. There is a lot of different types of information, but for data bits in 'custom json' configuration, the HIVE blockchain has proven to be one of the most resilient technology on the cutting edge of decentralization and community building.
With projects like Podping being hosted on HIVE, our team realized that a similar need could be filled for a different community using the unique principles of HIVE - And that is the torrenting community.
We have created @hive-182157 to facilitate this purpose.
Magnetbank link storage
Torrenting is a technology that allows Peer to Peer (P2P) file transfer among swarms of unknown users. It is not illegal, its just a protocol. This protocol uses links (magnet links) to share hash access to the swarm (through trackers). Its a bit technical, and we hope to share more information in the future as we grow, including technical guides and educational material.
We have built a user submission platform that is very close to launch where any HIVE user can submit a Magnet Link for any torrent to be uncensorably hosted within the blocks of the HIVE blockchain. Soon after we will release a proxy submission form, where users without a HIVE account can submit.
This is a clear use case for HIVE, and could be a very interesting marketing tool. Its quite frequent that sites like The Pirate Bay or Kick Ass Torrents get attacked and/or taken down.
We are working on a partial node that would host info for easy searching, but since everything is on the HIVE blockchain, anyone will be able to spin up a front end (and we will be publishing Github instructions to do so).
So if you can see the potential we can see for using this to market HIVE, go ahead and give us an upvote, we will be needing lots of RC in the coming months and years.

An immutable public blockchain with tons of custom front-ends like Hive is absolutely perfect for this.

Hive-Tube site hosts (instance owners) will definitely want to get their videos and podcasts searchable from torrent sites like psybersects.com and the pirate bay too. Would we need to get the torrent sites to injest id=MagnetBank custom json though? (noob question hehe) This is one more way for the hundreds of Hive-Tube site hosts to get their users' content discoverable/syndicated! :)
As for the Categories you're currently using (movies, tv, music, audio, etc), it might be a good idea to use the exact same category names that the fediverse network uses (https://docs.joinpeertube.org/api/plugins#video-categories-manager-api). This way, the thousands of videos and podcasts that get syndicated out to the fediverse network right now, also get made available on the torrent sites at the same time, in the same Hive transaction.
