The Pride Of My Collection

in Succulent growers3 years ago (edited)

Meet this one of my largest cacti, in my opinion it is Echinocactus grusonii...
@ewkaw, @mipiano tell me exactly, maybe I'm wrong!

I noticed this specimen (at the flower shop where I do all my plant purchases) about a year ago.

I bought the same one, only very small and with red thorns! But I continued to visit and look at this exemplar)

Probably, I was just checking whether someone bought it or not, subconsciously dreaming that it would still be there)

And one day I could not stand it, and took him home!
(in my area, apparently there are not many cacti lovers)

Therefore, now this beautiful cactus lives in our home, and I hope that in the spring it will give us gorgeous inflorescences!
In this photo, it's standing next to a sprout of a lemon, which I sprouted from a seed ...

I hope you enjoyed my story and, that's all for today! Thanks for being with me!
Take care of yourself and your loved ones and see you soon!

I see Ewkaw already came, anyway she is the pro here.... and nikv, and ludmila :) I am just a here in the middle, beginner with a little bit of experience 😂

Cool you bought it home finally, hope it will be a long long-living one ;)

Thank you for your feedback anyway! We will watch its development together)

Echinocactus grusonii

It is :)

Those orange thorns are not supposed to be orange though. I suspect it was painted to look more attractive. The new ones that grow have the right colour :)

I have one of those too. They are mean! :D

Thanks! Now at least I'll be sure)

They are mean! :D

mean? evil? ;))

The thorns... when last time visited the flower shop, you could also maybe see, there were some cacti with red thorns, No way they were for "real" ...

Very evil. They will shred our legs when you are not looking. They just want to see blood!

Yea.. colouring the thorns is another dumb practice after spraying the whole plant with paint, or fake snow or gluing dry flowers to them.

Omg, I hate the fake snow and glued flowers on them 😂😂

We will sent the evil thing to those who spray the plants with colours and glue to them nasty fake snow and flowers! However, googlyeyes are excused from the punishment :)

Hahaha Did you save that post just to tease me? 😂

However, googlyeyes are excused from the punishment :)

But only if they are not attached with a hot glue.

That post is saved in my mind, let's say.... forever 😂 especially during insomnia nights 😅

Now you are equally traumatized as me :D
Muuuahahahahaa

Manually curated by EwkaW from the @qurator Team. Keep up the good work!

That's a really healthy looking cacti. I have a bunch, and while mostly easy to care for, some really struggle here in my northern climate over the winter even though they are indoors.

Thanks for sharing this. Gives me a little inspiration to share a few of my own!

Cheers!

Glad that my cactus was able to inspire you!
We also have a rather cold winter, but in a warm room, nevertheless they are comfortable)
