Blooming cactus - Gymnocalycium Mihanovichii

I don't know if you remember this cactus form a while ago. I got it as a nice big clump in a way too small pot. Here is the post if you want to have a look.

I repotted it after that last post. The roots were pretty good, though terribly stuck between the damn peat the nurseries plant the cacti in. Took me a while to remove as much as I could. I manage to break lots of roots too, but there was no other way.

Few removed smaller ones that were almost fully buried and potted them separately. They do not bloom, but they grow nicely.
And this one... damn :)

It is a lovely little cactus native to Paraguay with very interesting ribs and stripes. When I got it, it was more green, now that it stands outside and gets some direct light it got more of those dark red colours.

I honestly didn't expect it to bloom like this! I was hoping for a flower or two from the biggest one, but they all started to grow buds like if it was a race!

The flowers are amazing... I wish they all opened in the same time, but this is still quite a show nevertheless.
No fragrance one them, but look at those layer and layers of petals!

And there is still more coming up :)

Since it is Caturday, here is a quick shot of my helper. A little part of her anyway. She was not very interested in posing with this one. But you can see some furry background on some photos. Then she just left do her kitty stuff.

I see that you are a fan of cactus flowers.
With this black background the flowers really stand up.
In the last photo "your helper", gave you an interesting background :-)

The Master Helper says thank you :)

Are you specially photographing cacti in the dark?

Would you believe it was sunny morning when I shot those and the pot was standing in the sun?

"Cacti in the dark" sounds cool! Adds drama :D

Especially "bloody in the dark".

Blooms now too.
Photos are super!

Thank you!
I got Baldianum today :D I managed to kill all the ones I had..

It's a pity, but you are not alone, I also sometimes "kill" them

Quite the impressive bloomer!

I am surprised myself to see so many flowers in the same time. Looks amazing! :D

Wow! I cannot get over the amazing beauty you have displayed. More than that, your photography is superb, Ewa! @ewkaw You have quite an impressive collection of succulents! I don't know anyone else with this many, except for the nursery and even then, you have more than most!!

And all so beautiful!!! I am taking you home so I can enjoy them too!

Thank you! This one is really something. I am so glad I got it :)
Happy you enjoy the pinkies!

There was a girl back in Steem who had wayyyyy more cacti. Some of the ones I am showing are from her. Such a pity she stopped posting. Amazing collection and knowledge. If you have time and want to look: https://hive.blog/@andrijana

It is even better than that! :)

I know who you are talking about! Why did she stop posting? Life? I am in awe of collections like that. I will go back and look her up! Thanks!

I have no idea. She just stopped posting :(
Her cacti are amazing and she keeps them all in those pretty stone or clay pots. So nice :)
