Sulcorebutia rauschii f. violacidermis

in Succulent growers4 years ago (edited)

The birthplace of Rebucius is Argentina, Bolivia and Peru.

Sulcorebutia rauschii f. violacidermis is a rare species of cactus.

An adult plant is not more than 5 cm. in diameter.
I really like its black spines, which resemble wood lice.
The good news is that these thorns do not prick at all.

In Sulcorebutia rauschii f. violacidermis very beautiful large purple-pink flowers.
Flowering begins in the second year of life and under good conditions can bloom throughout the year.

Loves bright sunlight all year round.

For flowering Sulcorebutia rauschii f. violacidermis during the resting period the desired temperature is + 8-10 ºC.
To get children, watering in the winter needs to be almost stopped.
It is necessary to gradually switch from summer to winter watering regime.

Rebutia do not need to be fertilized at all, unlike other cacti.
I don’t fertilize my cacti at all, and they bloom and don’t "complain" :-)

The photos I were taken with a Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L tablet

Ooh, I want one!

I will definitely find one, for you and myself.
I managed to send these two shoots (which are in the penultimate photo) to ewkaw, and a little later the pigeons pulled it out and pecked :-(
I almost cried ...
Now I have a part of this cactus, but it is half-alive and the color has changed :-(
It is not sold in stores, as it is rare.
But I'll make an agreement with the plant nursery.
We will definitely have it!

I'm sorry about the pigeons! The problem at the moment is that covid has ruined the postal services so you can't send me anything and trust that it will arrive promptly :(
I suppose all will improve in a few more months

I also hope that this will end soon.
Because of him, I can't fly to my homeland :-(

Pigeons have destroyed many of my plants.
Of which 2 plants were destroyed in 2 days !!!! These plants were over 10 years old! I cried...

Why don't the cats chase the birds?

My cats are in a separate room.
Since once 2 my cats almost fell from the balcony.
They jumped onto the table for the pigeons and nearly fell over the railing.
Only my Slavik walked freely throughout the apartment, who is now beyond the rainbow :-(
He was VERY SMART!
I do not trust other cats, they can still "turn" everything in the apartment and climb the curtains :-) they are hooligans!

Oh dear I see. One of my cats fell off the windowsill and I was very lucky he wasn't seriously hurt.
Perhaps some netting for the balcony?

Nice cactus :)

Thank you very much!

Very strange colour cactus!

Merry Christmas and happy New Year!

Cheers.

Thank you very much!
He's very handsome!
And you too, great to celebrate the New Year and a happy year!
