Shy Lucky Bells

I should warn people. Open this post, only if you want to suffer. Or, suffer together with me, in my attempts to bring these red bells to the screen. You will notice, not a lot of success in this activity of presenting them. But, I got the order: publish them! Ok, here they come, the lucky red bells. Well, orange or pale red, if will look them better.

It all started back in time when I got the baby plants from the other side of the Iberian peninsula. They travelled for one week, and when they arrived, the baby plants got a new home. They have lived happily with me, their second mom all this time.

And they are still living, don't get me wrong, No plant from that arrival wanted to jump from the stand as it did the fuzzy Echeveria some two weeks ago. Proof here. They have all my attention and care, and when this Kalanchoe showed the first buds, I was happy indeed! I already imagined how I would take some nice photos of the flowers when bloom.

But, now when they are open, and the red bells are showing their elegant skirts, I don't know how to take a nice photo. A decent one, could it come? It is just a plant with a so long neck and a cool haircut on the very top of it. Close up photos should do the thing. Well, only if I would have some macro lens. So dancing here and there on the balcony, searching for some good light, but seems that it gets worse and worse. Just blurry ones are what I get. I have to think something... We will go the the garden and catch some more light! A perfect plan!

Two pots, a camera and a silly neighbour wanting to take photos of some...plant. While one older couple tried to get their siesta and have some sun, I was looking for a good background place. This green carpet will be ok.

DSC_4115.JPG

The pot found its place in that soft green surface, but afraid from that wide space, the Kalanchoe blossfeldiana didn't want to cooperate. It was so shy and decided not to show compassion for me and my activity. Will not pose nicely for anything in this world. Not for me, not for the neighbours, not for hive.

-mipiano: But for your first mom, @ewkaw ... would you pose for her?

-Señora Lucky Bells: If this is for her, then ok! But just a few shots!

So we got a few ones, nothing special again, I suppose it is not the Señora plant's fault but the photographer. Still, it liked later to be there, in the green. Maybe even imagined it could live one day in freedom, on some green surface without being locked in a pot, in my balcony.

Even the smaller one participated a bit, not so much, being still a bit shy and not showing a lot of her flowers. But you get the idea, right? It also bloomed.

DSC_4104.JPG

We were there, played a bit that hide and seek game, showing and not showing the flowers. I played around them too, promising them a better treat and nicer music from me, if they behave well. But that was the max I could get, still, I hope this post will not be muted in the succulent growers community for the quality of the photos. :D Well, at least, the green grass was a nice sight.

Later we went back to the old place, the balcony is their destiny. Take note, of how tall the stems are. So, this is normal? According to what I read yesterday in this nice post, it is normal for them. I learned I could even chop them into smaller parts and plant them, they would grow again. For now, they stay how they are, in this condition. When the blooming is finished, I will talk to them and ask what kind of new haircut they want!

Pretty!
I really like those bells. And I know the struggle of how to shoot them :D They are just so tall! I don't think I ever shot the whole plant because of that. Just separately flowers and leaves.
Net year you will have multiple stems with dozens of blooms.

#SoMuchGreen 💚

Yes, a struggle :D. Because of that weird shape of the plant, well, just that stem where the flowers are, it is the nicest way to take photos just of the bells. But, some macro lenses would come in handy. And a uniform background, like you use many times black, it is cool! And some more experience... and.. haha, now I am becoming too demanding with myself 😂 let's just enjoy the fact the baby plant has grown that much that it bloomed. That simple :))

#GreenIndeed 💚

Congratulations!
The photos turned out beautiful!
Very beautiful bloom!

Hey, thanks Ludmila. I was surprised when I saw the buds and that they will bloom! I was so happy indeed :))

Hey!
This is a beautiful bloom!

I think you took some great shots in your quest to photograph these flowers - my favourite is the one looking up with the blue sky in the background - maybe I just wanna see some blue sky right now :)

Oh, no blue skies right now in the UK? Where is your summer update :)) ?

Well my plan to keep summer going lasted till the end of November but after that I really struggled. Still it was a good attempt. That being said the weather here is starting to look up this week - so maybe we can say this is the beginning of Summer 2022?! Let me dig out my shorts...

Yes, that is the attitude. Summer 2022 starts NOW 😎
It is proclaimed here in the blockchain now, dig out your shorts ;D

And heat the house well and be inside 😂

haha - my son actually insisted on wearing shorts yesterday - I made him wear trousers underneath them when he went outside though but I think he has the right spirit!

Oh, he inherited it from you 😎

Haha I think he probably did! We are off to somewhere hot very soon so I need to get my shorts in order anyway!

I like how you describe the plant as having a long neck and cool haircut haha that's super funny 😂
It's an interesting looking thing. I've never seen one before. I would probably have a hard time taking a photo of it as well because of its strange shape.

I like the one outside on the balcony with the blue sky. Nice one!

Hahah, yes, I have to invent always something, why describe things in an ordinary way? ;D

Well, this plant indeed has a strange shape, so just the flowers are interesting, but you see, not as easy to immortalize them through photos.

Hm, yes, that blue sky gave a fresh touch, I think also the same. The green grass background was maybe not perfect, not so nice contrast as with the blue.

I thought the Bells were beautiful, maybe it's just the season...that's why they are drooping so.

Nice one!

This is the season for them indeed, but still a bit early. However it was nice weather during December and January, many flowers bloomed already here.
