Oof, Canada is a hard one for outdoor succulent growing and afternoon sun is never great for plants. Sempervivum, aka houseleeks are the only candidate that comes to mind and then they should be planted in the ground, not left in pots. They are alpine succulents native to Europe so they can handle the snow and pretty fierce sunlight.
Most growers I know from forums in that part of the world stick to indoor/outdoor growing cycles

Yes, my parents have these plants in his garden and they always look amazing. If that's the case then we would probably go for the indoor/outdoor cycle with potted plants. I did not consider the afternoon sun to be harsh but it makes sense. We have some grow lights that we could use instead of natural sun light. I will post some photos when we are more established. 👍
