Welding gloves like those are the best thing for cacti. I like eating nopales but the endless little spines in the fingers put me off.
You should let that cut stem dry for a while, at least 2 weeks. Put cinnamon on it, that's a good antifungal.
It's not Mammillaria spinosissima although I'm not sure which Mammillaria it is, the genus is huge

Yes the truth is that the gloves were a great help, at least with this cactus that is huge, with the other smaller ones it is a little uncomfortable to handle them, and written down in my learning list, I thought that with a week would be enough to let it heal the wound, I will put special care in it, in fact I have drying my Parodia Leninghausii, I had a rotting problem and decided to crop it to rescue the plant, I hope I haven't made a mistake, but it seems that the wound healing is going well and the top keeps a good figure.
After a few weeks if I see that it recovers favorably I will share it, now there is no point in doing so, and about the big cactus, I probably need to wait to see its flower to be more sure of the genus, but I really loved this gift, I wish we all received one.
