[en] Echinopsis. A genus of cacti for beginners. Flowering of one of the ones I own

in Succulent growers11 months ago (edited)

Hello Hivers from this community of plant lovers. Today I show you the flowering and characteristic stem of one of my cacti of the Echinopsis genus from the collection. This genus of cactus has numerous species that are mainly characterized by their showy blooms and rapid growth. Even so, there are some species of the genus that are much slower to grow and have more specific cultivation requirements.

This genus in particular is very advantageous to have if you are a beginner in cacti since its basic cultivation requirements are: water every 7-10 days if high temperatures predominate; direct sun or semi-shade, 70% mineral substrate to facilitate accelerated drainage of irrigation water and temperatures between 24-30ºC. The pests that sometimes affect them are mealybugs, aphids on flowers and fruits, mites, fungi, mollusks and some insect larvae. Additionally, they are mostly prolific with a high production of offspring that allow asexual propagation.

Soon I will continue showing other of my plants from the collection and some of its general characteristics or the genus to which it belongs. See you very soon. Please support with a heart to make it easier for me to create frequent content.
