Greetings friends,
It’s been a while due to work and weekend cooking. I hope this blog finds you in good health and spirits.
Every year at the end of the school term I’m usually swamped with essays to mark - there’s no getting around it. Recently , as you know I’ve been doing my weekend kitchen. I am hoping to expand do a lot more things via @jjsbellyful next year.
My most successful event was in collaboration with a NPO run by a friend and her team. They go by the name linkupjaja (give them a follow if you are on the gram). They assist special needs kids in Jamaica , though most of it’s directors are Japanese (people who live Jamaica, its culture and people ).
Here are some pictures from
That event.
These beautiful young ladies are of Jamaican and Korean roots/ they have spent all their lives in Japan. I hope I can stay in touch with them and teach them more about the Jamaican way of life.
These sisters were enjoying the live performances of some of the Japanese veterans in the reggae and dancehall business. People like Sister Sheez, Bunbun and professor Chinen. It was an electric and fun atmosphere.
The venue is a place called Hostel Chillax. It is a hostel and the operator is an avid reggae enthusiast. He has been using the living room as an event space. It is a warm and cozy place and it is a good place to make good connections and hold a vibes. He needs to up his Caribbean liquor game as he had no rum in the kitchen.
I had a choice of choosing where to cook so I chose the terrace. It was cold but it was away from people (who were drinking ) so it was safe and I had a lot of space to do work. My jerk chicken was done in less than two hours so I grabbed the wings and tings. They also went before the night was over. It was a successful night out business wise.
Numerous pictures were put up with adequate information about Jamaican history, life and people. I hope to host a couple of these events for myself next year. This please seems to be fast becoming a hang out spot for half Japanese young people, especially those of black or African descent. I believe I may take the opportunity to train and perhaps form a couple bands out of this place. The kids are talented and many hunger for guidance. I look forward to yo doing bigger and better things next year. I wish you and yours whole heap a success and blessings. Walk good until next time.
Great seeing you resurfacing for some air bro. You’ve been pretty busy doing real things offline.
Yes sir , the show must go on. I hope to show myself here more often in the new year. Bless your heart and lungs
