We used to be a colony of England before 1667 called Willoughbyland, names after Francis Willoughby who claimed the land for the Britisch, I think.
After that the Dutch took over.
That's why our native language is Dutch (Netherlands), but we drive on the left side of the road (England).
The Netherlands still has influence over us as well, and the relationship is still there because of many people traveling between the two countries.
