Tropical Storm Elsa Forecast ⛈ Take Precautions

Please bear with me, I know I've "complained" about the rainy weather a couple of times, but I really thought it would've been over now that we also have "sunny"/hot days over here. What was I wrong; I should've known better, because it's always rainy around the beginning of July.

As I said earlier, we do have hot sunny weather the last couple of days, but that's during the day when all the clouds are forming together and the atmosphere feels like it's brooding. I even have to splash some water on my face a couple of times to cool off a bit. And then, when night approaches (late in the afternoon) - after the clouds have become heavy - the rain falls, bringing thunder and lightning with it and it's forecast that it'll keep "showering" the coming days. It's even been predicted that Tropical Storm Elsa will be the first Atlantic hurricane in 2021.

Now mind you, today was no different - rain, lightning and thunder - which I enjoyed watching as a kid at my parents'. I was fascinated by the lights and even liked rare pictures of those flashes. But now as an "adult" I squirm when seeing the flash, knowing the sound is not so far behind. Crazy enough it's not me I'm worried about 😅. I'm thinking about the appliances, the house, the roof and the sound of what I'm watching or listening to will be drowned out by the thunder.

I began thinking if the cords of all the appliances should be removed, the importance of preventative building and (electric) wiring and the extra service (for flooding and/or devastation by storm) assurance companies have begun to offer lately. Regardless of what your opinions are regarding assurances, some things are worth investing into for those rare occasions you'll need a "buffer". Also who do you call for help if ever something happens; do we have the alarm numbers at hand?

I guess that's called "adulting" 😅. But enough about my "risk analysis". Do you you also think preventively about such cases? Let me know in the comments below 🤓.

That hurricane looks like it needs to go get a vaccine and take it easy. In my case it’s earthquake preparedness. With hurricanes we know it’s coming but the quakes just happen. The most I have now is documents in one place ready to go, not even water 😆

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, the earthquakes in Asia are pretty scary. My parents were on vacation in Indonesia or Thailand, when a earthquake hit and they were really startled. In 2019 there was a small quake or rather the after effects of it. Some felt it, while others didn't even realize it. I was the latter 🙈. But before that I can't remember one hitting here and I hope it stays that way.

The most I have now is documents in one place ready to go...

Ah yes, I have to remember those also.

Hoping everyone is ok and the hurricane didn't do too much damage.

Heeey... Thanks for checking in and we're fine 😊.
Of course some parts of the country did have flood, so people had to be evacuated or needed help in clean-up, etc.

Hahahahaaa, actually I should be more prepared. In Suriname we don't know much weather/natural disasters, apart from flooding and gusts of wind, with roofs flying away. Some earth tremors here and there, but that's about it. But with climate change happening and our natural coastal defense system cut down, we need to be more alert and/or prepared.

Thanks for the pizza 😁.
