The Run
This was my first time running this section so I wasn't sure what to expect. Since it's the Reedy and is rumored to be fairly dirty, I tend to stray towards other rivers in the area.
Nevertheless, I tossed the essentials in the back of the truck and headed on out!
The water was really up and pushing, which made for a pretty fast trip. You can see a handrail on the right hand side of the pic that is used for a put in. That guy was ALMOST covered in water at the end of it.
Just a beaver dam. It's amazing how smart these creatures are!
About an hour or so into the trip, we came to section in the river where it was blocked by downed trees so we had to port. Once we ported we decided to relax a bit.
Ten or so minutes into our 'relaxation' we look up and happen to notice a black snake right above our kayaks staring at us. She had to be about 6 or so foot long.
Due to the water being up so high, we found a section of the river that had flooded an over head power line run. The water in the section was about 2 1/2 - 3 foot high and allowed us to cruise up into it with ease.
I'll post some more runs from this past year in the future. Hope you enjoyed it!
Here's an awesome picture to cap off an amazing first run of the year.
