This week's battle challenge features the Regal Peryton. The Regal Peryton is a fast, flying, Magic damage dealing Earth monster that is one of the best cards in Silver Leagues and below. If you've spent any time in Novice, Bronze, or Silver, you'll run into this monsters over and over.
Regal Peryton Highlights
By default, Magic is incredibly strong, especially in lower leagues because it doesn't miss (except for Phase) and it ignores armor (except for Void Armor). The issue with a lot of the Magic attackers are that they're low health and/or slow.
The Regal Peryton gives you everything. It's fast, it has great health, it's relatively low mana, and it's flying.
Icon | Ability Name | Description |
---|---|---|
Flying | Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability (+25% chance of evading) |
Although it's light on abilities, it is still an incredibly strong monster.
At Bronze league, the Regal Peryton doesn't do a ton of damage but the +1 Magic buff from Obsidian helps big time. Speed is king and 6 Speed in Bronze is huge.
In Silver, you gain an additional Magic damage which comes in handy when Silence and Void is present.
In Gold, it becomes quicker with some extra health but nothing to write home about.
At Max levels, you get 3 damage which is a ton for a 5 mana card with this kind of speed and health.
So when do I use the Regal Peryton?
- The Regal Peryton is so versatile that it can either tank, become a backline Sneak protector, or just hang out in the middle dishing out damage
- Earthquake is a good ruleset for this monster
- Equal Opportunity is another good one since it is fast with high health
This Week's Featured Battle
In this week's featured battle, we have an Obsidian vs Thaddius Brood in a Healed Out, Knockout Guild Brawl!
Battle Ruleset
Healed Out | All healing abilities are removed from Monsters and Summoners | |
---|---|---|
Heavy Hitters | All Monsters have the Knock Out ability | |
27 Mana | This is considered a medium mana battle | |
Active Splinters | Water, Earth, Death, and Dragon Splinters are available |
- Healed Out
- Magic is usually my preferred choice here because of the no healing rule
- Melee damage can be set back my Armor and Repair
- Life Leech still works
- Heavy Hitters
- Use Stun if you have a fast Stun monster
- 27 Mana
- This is a medium Mana battle so expect to see a full lineup of monsters
With this being a Silver League Chaos Only Fray, Stun isn't super high on my list since the only card you'll have to be worried about is Igor Darkspear. Even then, a lot of the strong available monsters in Water are Melee/Ranged attackers which can be stopped by using Armor.
This left me with the choice of dealing Magic damage versus debuffing Magic. I decided to go with Obsidian because I could use Queen Mycelia to give me some Armor while still doing Magic damage.
The Lineup
Position | Card Image | Card Name | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Summoner | Obsidian | Rare Earth Summoners that grants a +1 Magic Damage buff to friendly monsters | |
Pos 1 (tank) | Hill Giant | Low mana tank with 8 health! | |
Pos 2 (secondary tank/attacker) | Regal Peryton | While it is primarily a damage dealer, it will be a great tank if it makes it to the front since it's fast and has Flying | |
Pos 3 (attacker) | Venari Scout | Opportunity is great for taking out vulnerable backline monsters | |
Pos 4 (attacker) | Katrelba Gobson | With Double Strike and Bloodlust, she can become and aboslute monster when she gets rolling | |
Pos 5 (support) | Queen Mycelia | Her Protect ability makes it very difficult for Melee monsters to compete | |
Pos 6 (sneak protection) | Acid Shooter | This is mainly to protect against Sneak while still dealing a bit of damage with Scattershot |
Let's Battle!
- My opponent went with Thaddius Brood and debuffed my Magic
- Luckily for me, Katrelba was able to get a few kills and destroyed their backline
- Queen Mycelia's Protect Ability came in handy, allowing me to absorb a few of those Melee attacks
- You can see here that Regal Peryton becomes an awesome tank, dodging so many Melee attacks because of the Speed differential as well as the Flying ability
Did it work?
Yes! Opportunity and Sneak played large roles in this one.
I analyzed the battle with Splintertools and was given an 85% chance of winning the battle. While it was great, it could have been better!
I removed the Acid Shooter and played the Mycelic Morphoid in the back as a Sneak deterrent since it has Thorns. Looks like that would've given me a 100% chance of winning. However, if they didn't use Sneak, Acid Shooter was a better option.
Final Thoughts
The Regal Peryton is a must have card. It is a bit costly at $0.34/BCX but it is well worth it because it gets so much use.

Nice battle strategy! At one point in the game I thought your opponent was going to get the victory! But Peryton did play a vital role in the match!
