WEB 3 GAMING
I have been in web 3 for a few years now and watched as it has flourished even though many think it is a Ponzi scheme.
Whilst web 3 is not just gaming many gaming and coin/token rug pulls have not helped web 3 along the way. And yet it survives and continues to grow.
But is web 3 gaming worth it?
I have already mentioned rug pulls so is this really something you want to get into? If not why am I bothering to write about this?
I personally believe in web 3 games or I would not still be here but even those of us that believe in it need to see the bad things happening in order to help make it better.
Rug pulls or people/companies that promise something to get your money and then just disappear with it needs to stop but unfortunately this even happens outside of web 3 so it is not likely to stop we just have to be careful and make informed decisions before spending our money on anything in web 3 or elsewhere. “Do you own research” is a phrase I live by, as not doing this in the past has left me with nothing from my investment.
Speaking of investing that leads me into another topic, how web 3 gets marketed. It is slowly going away from t is as people have learnt not to be lured in by it. But in the beginning web 3 was marketed as a way to make money playing games. But wait I do don’t I ? I thought that is why we play web 3 games. Whilst yes you can make money people come into games thinking that the are going to get rich quick and when they don’t they start screaming scam to anyone that will listen and even to those that won’t . My point being is that it has a negative effect to the game and to web 3 in general as it is a easy trap to fall into and for users and a headache for developers that just want to make a game. The sooner we just market web 3 games and forget about talking about earning the better in my opinion.
That brings me to developers, the people who own and or make the web 3 games that you are playing. Just because this is web 3 it does not mean the game costs nothing to run or make. Most developers in web 3 are also the owner of the game and they are developing the game with the idea of making money. But the moment something is added to the game to encourage you to buy something to play the game or to progress people get upset or just don’t play as they have come with making money in mind not spending it. Some that do spend money but don’t see a return on their investment also get upset, which is understandable but how do we encourage developers/owners to spend time on making a game if they are not getting paid. Simple answer is most will not and will simply move on once they get sick of it.
Ok so we have developers/owners making no money, poor marketing and upset customers. It is not looking good, but there is hope, we just need to get some balance in there.
Developers need money to pay for the running of the servers and development. So if we can come up with a plan for keeping a source of income for the developers then at least the game should not be shut down due to lack of funds or loss of interest.
If we can do those two things then I think we can slowly over time change customers view of web 3 games and keep them happy.
Ok so the developers are getting paid, the marketing is an easy fix just market the game and don’t focus on the ownership part. Adding email sign up is an added extra as it creates easy of access they can unlock a wallet later if they want to have full ownership, some games like @splinterlands already do this.
Look I could be wrong but I feel like this is the way forward. I personally enjoy playing web 3 games and look forward to them doing well in the future. Right now though if your looking at playing them or are already playing them then I would look at them as fun and not an investment as I feel the investment point of view when it comes to web 3 games is a trap, one that if your not careful you will get caught in. Don’t get me wrong some people have made a lot of money from web 3 games but if you look into it I am sure that you will also see a lot of people complaining that they lost money on the very same game.
Always do your own research and be realistic when spending your money on anything.
Let me know your thoughts on the matter. I love hearing other people’s opinions. Maybe you have a different point of view.
Here are some games that I enjoy playing, feel free to check them out:

Great post , hitting the nail on the head. It is exactly the reason why we started our project.
I'm new to web3 gaming not even 3 months. I'm having a blast! Imho why play a game that frustrates you or destroy your peace? That's not healthy.
so true. I think this is what some do. they play the game even though they do not like it and only look to get money out of it. Not everyone does this but some do.
For them I feel it would become very easy to get annoyed if they are not getting the results that they want as they get no pleasure from the game itself.
