Hello everyone. Recently we took a walk around our favorite neighborhood, which we visit quite often. Officially this area is the seventh arrondissement, but our favorite spots are more like the fifth or sixth arrondissement. It's almost the entire Left Bank... We realized that we come here more frequently, but it’s not our fault. We just love it more.
Every time I try to make our walks unique and this time we passed by a small park. We had never entered this park before, so we decided to take a quick look. Afterward we went shopping. We wanted to see the buildings that reminded us of Los Angeles style or the Nice coastline.
If you didn’t have financial concerns, meaning if there were no limits to finding a place to live, which neighborhood in Paris would you choose? I thought about this for a long time and I imagine living in a small house overlooking green spaces. Particularly near Luxembourg park. It really is perfect.
There’s even a small carousel here, old but still charming. We continued our walk, went shopping, saw the new decorations and then returned to the restaurant we had been thinking about for two weeks. In the evening we went to the cinema. I’ll tell you later which movie we watched and which cinema we went to because that’s a story on its own.
First we came to see the new decorations at the shopping center. This exhibition was built around the commentary of a decorator. The idea behind the decoration belongs to a Brazilian artist named Ernesto. The theme? Adam, Eve and the snake.
By the way temporary exhibitions like these are often accompanied by pop-up stores. This time there were dog-themed shops. Probably selling only dog items. In France animals are allowed almost everywhere, except for butcher shops. Dogs always enter supermarkets. There are even special clothes for dogs in some stores here, special outfits to protect them from the cold.
The name of the decoration is Le Serpent meaning the snake. We found it an interesting name. I spotted a Ferrari car from afar and was surprised, as it reminded me of the Italian word rossa, meaning red. Yes, I’m learning Italian and planning to visit Italy one day. I’ll speak Italian in restaurants there.
Meanwhile while passing by the high school, we noticed something interesting. In the old days there were separate entrances for boys and girls, but now everyone studies together. Still those historical signs remain. For example, there’s a Latin inscription above the school entrance: Fluctuat nec mergitur. This is Paris’s motto, roughly meaning It rocks but does not sink. That is, it wavers but never gives up.
Sometimes I wonder, maybe I should organize Paris tours. I could walk the streets with people and share historical insights. But the competition is fierce and I don’t want to turn it into a business. Who knows, though? Maybe one day I’ll change my mind because I want people to truly discover Paris. Most tourists only visit the typical places: the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe... But sometimes just turning a few meters left or right can help you feel the city’s magic better.
The same goes for restaurants. Most touristy restaurants don’t serve good food. You need to know where the delicious spots are. I don’t have a complete list yet, but at least I know the bad ones, which is already an advantage.
Later we arrived at my favorite square. We’ve been here before. Last time, we stumbled upon a small restaurant that we really liked. The restaurant’s name is "Bartolo." We planned to eat pasta.
The pasta was absolutely divine. I had ravioli and my friend had a creamy pork ragu pasta. It was incredibly delicious, though I’m sure it was high in calories. Anyway after dinner, we walked a bit more and then went to the cinema.
The cinema experience was quite interesting. The film we watched was Jumanji: The Next Level and we watched it in 4DX. The seats moved, wind blew and water droplets even sprayed on us. The movie was really fun and made us smile. When we left the cinema, we were in great spirits.
We had an amazing day. I’m happy to have shared this day with you again. See you soon in other posts.
