On the second day of our trip to Toulouse, we visited the Aeroscopia Aviation Museum in Blagnac, located near the city. After packing our belongings and checking out of our hotel room, we bid farewell to our cozy Duck hotel and hit the road.
The weather was overcast and rainy, making the museum visit an excellent choice. The museum is situated close to the Airbus facilities and the airport. Toulouse is famously known as the aviation hub of France. Upon arriving at the museum, we were greeted by an impressive open-air exhibition. Various aircraft were on display and we had the chance to get up close to some of them, including an old military plane. We parked our car in the museum’s parking lot and went inside.
The interior of the museum was just as fascinating. We explored a section detailing the history of humankind’s dream of flight. Later we entered a massive hangar where planes from different eras were exhibited. There was everything from small aircraft to enormous passenger planes. We stepped into one of the planes and examined its cockpit, passenger cabin and even the baggage compartment below. In another aircraft, we saw the business class section and the kitchen.
The aviation museum also featured interactive exhibits. We tried piloting a plane in a simulator and learned about various professions at the airport. A section showing how baggage is handled was particularly intriguing. Meanwhile, the rain continued outside. As we waited for the rain to subside, we continued exploring the exhibits inside the museum. Eventually, we had the chance to take a closer look at the aircraft displayed outdoors as well.
Despite the rainy weather, our second day in Toulouse was thoroughly enjoyable. The Aeroscopia Museum is an absolute must-visit for aviation enthusiasts. I highly recommend this museum to anyone planning a trip to Toulouse.
After leaving the museum, we set off for Lyon. During the journey, as usual, we stopped at a rest area and grabbed some snacks at McDonald’s. A tradition during our travels.
In my opinion Toulouse is a fantastic destination for anyone interested in aviation history and culture. The Aeroscopia Museum offers an impressive experience for visitors of all ages. Getting up close to planes, stepping into cockpits and learning about aviation history was exciting. The small mishaps and weather during our Toulouse adventure didn’t overshadow our overall experience.
