Ice on the Volga
I decided to leave the city and inspect the banks of the Volga River after the river froze over. Before that, I was on the Kostroma River, which flows into the Volga. In the quiet backwater, the ice formed smooth. Such ice is more like an ice rink. You can wear skates and skate.
On the Volga River, everything is completely different. There are large open spaces and the wind blows in these open spaces. The wind may not be very strong, but it creates small waves that prevent the water from freezing into perfectly flat ice.
Here the ice is all covered with folds, joints, protruding parts. In short, the texture is very rich on ice.
When I arrived ashore and went out on the ice it was already about half past four in the afternoon. At this time, sunset is already taking place in our latitudes.
Before I had time to take a few shots, the sun began to slide over the horizon. The low sun turned everything pink.
As I was about to leave, the coastline caught my attention. Here ice formed on the coastal grass. A thick ice frame has formed around the stems. The ice glittered in the setting sun and it was very beautiful.
I tried to take photographs of this miracle. To do this, I had to lie down directly on the snow covering the shore.
This isn't the first time I've needed to lie down.
For the first time on this shore, I lay down directly on the ice. It's good that the wind blew all the dirt and snow off the ice. And I was forced to lie on the ice by a piece of ice that had been broken off by someone and was lying on the ice.
In order to show this piece of ice in the light, I had to lie down.
Usually, the very fact that you have to lie on the street puts you in an uncomfortable position. And then I happily lay down on the new ice.
I hope you will enjoy looking at my photos from the lying position.
