Now that my little one has graduated from high school (thank goodness - Abicetamol the pain is over), we have decided to take a little trip together to eastern Canada - Nova Scotia to be precise. For this reason, I decided to keep a little logbook about our trip and experiences and share some of my pictures, impressions and thoughts with you.

The day started shortly after 5 a.m. After a quick breakfast, our better half took her men to Nuremberg Central Station, where the ICE train left 20 minutes late for CrackCity (my son's term for Frankfurt am Main). The journey then went quite smoothly as far as Frankfurt - but not as far as the airport but as far as the main station - where it then stopped and after half an hour of repairs (resetting the batteries) it was the end of the line and we all had to change trains and continue the last 10 kilometres to the airport on another train - not that we were surprised - we had already expected this.

Arriving at the airport, my son's tooth retainer had come loose (of course - if not there, then when else) and a still sweaty eTA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) for my son, who is now 18 and was not yet 18 when we booked the trip, was quickly issued, we were able to check in, check in our luggage and go through passport control to the waiting area where we could rest until departure - at least I was already sweating through by then.

In contrast to the journey to Frankfurt, the flight itself was punctual and very smooth. 6:45 hours later, we landed in Ensfield - Halifax at 6:15 pm local time in beautiful evening weather. The passport controls and baggage claim as well as the collection of the previously rented car went without a hitch.

Our destination was about 30 kilometres from the airport in a suburb of Halifax, where we fell into bed after a long day and recharged our batteries. Tomorrow we are off to Peggy Cove

To be continued.

Vater & Sohn in Kanada – Anreisetag
