Father & Son in Canada - The journey is the reward - Guysborough

Our Route
Our Route

Just a quick update from our trip today. We are leaving the Halifax area and travelling north along the east coast of Nova Scotia. It has stopped raining, but it is still very foggy in places. I actually like car journeys like this because I find the constant change of surroundings and impressions meditative. If I had three weeks' holiday, I'd rather go there for a fortnight and only stay at the destination for a week, but as I said, that's my thing.

Today, we almost always travelled along the coast, the route was often winding, rather narrow and bumpy. On the other hand, the eye was presented with a wealth of impressions. Old and new houses, winding bays, sandy beaches with driftwood, tourist shops and small restaurants inviting you to have a coffee. After about 6 hours of travelling, several breaks and a short ferry ride, during which we had the pleasure of meeting the ferryman Ralph Kaiser, we reached our destination in Guysborough.

My son immediately unpacked his fishing rod and actually brought back a fish, which then found its way onto our dining table.

Tomorrow we will continue north to Cape Breton, to the Bras d'Or Lacke.
