Post #5 Exploring Menjangan island and its underwater world with family

in TravelFeed3 years ago

To reach Menjangan island we had to first reach the Northest Bali coast. The journey took us 4 hours from Sanur but the drive was definitely worth it. Just arrived at our hotel we were stunned by the dreamy view from the restaurant. A green jungle topping a blue, clear oceanwater in a calm and paradisiac Bay. Just along the ocean, 3 natural hot pools were waiting for us to enjoy their delicious warm.

Sailing to menjangan

Early morning the next day of our arrival a jukung ( local fisherman boat) took us on the 40 minutes journey to the island. The journey was a breeze, mix of soft wind and gentle waves. The kids were super exited and so was I.

Snorkeling

Unfortunately I have no pictures of that part of the trip but we did a first dive along the island beaches. As soon as we put our heads under water we were able to see bright and colorful fishes. I think we were all amazed of the abundancy of the marine life. Beautiful healthy corals hided smaller fishes.

The second dive was in deeper water and we saw more bigger fishes and spotted a black teeth shark ! Little Nemo came to say hi too :)

On the island

Before tourism stopped, deers were coming to eat at the hands of tourists right on the island beaches. This days they retreated in the bushes and went back to their natural habitat. We were able to spot some at the early hours of the day but as soon as it got hot they ran back in the deepest part of the forest.

I hope you enjoyed my story. See you at the next post !
