Visiting an abandoned theme park in the heart of Bali's jungle

in TravelFeed3 years ago (edited)

Although I have been living in Bali for more than 8 years, I went to visit the Taman Festival for the first time last weekend.

Wild vines and tree roots embraced broken Balinese demons' statues in a wonderful and gloomy mess.

If you watched The Anomaly, thriller by Noel Clarke, then you've seen the Taman Festival sceneries.

Nature perfectly savaged the old building to make of it the ideal background for an horror movie.

Entering the park old doors, we felt goosebumps and headed West to the old theatre. Graffiti's are everywhere, covering the old buildings.

It is believed to be an haunted place, where crocodiles and monkeys hunt at night.

You can see Balinese graffiti's style next to graffitis written in French or in Russian. Looking at the graffitis kept us occupied for a good hour.

We then ahead to the heart of the park and deeper in the forest.

The old bayan tree still had his temple attached.

I love these sorts of things. They are tragic and spooky at the same time. I'd love to visit this. Have you heard of the theme park in I think it was New Jersey that is now in the ocean because they built it in a stupid place?
