With The Hare Hunt in the Rococo Era by Max Baumbach, my series on the sculptures of Fasanerieallee comes to an end – and it could hardly be more impressive. This bronze sculpture, standing tall in Tiergarten, is a masterpiece of movement. The tension of the hunt is captured in every detail: the hounds in full pursuit, muscles taut, the hunters gesturing with determination, the scene frozen in time yet seemingly ready to leap forward in the next second. It’s a testament to the sculptor’s skill, demonstrating just how dynamic a statue can be.
However, it would be remiss not to mention the ethical concerns surrounding the depiction of animal cruelty. The glorification of hunting as an aristocratic pastime raises questions about past values and traditions. This artwork, like many historical pieces, is not just about beauty—it also serves as a mirror of history, with all its complexities.
With this piece, I conclude my series on the hunting sculptures of Fasanerieallee. But the end of one journey marks the beginning of another: "Wanderings through Berlin." This new series will explore the art, culture, and countless discoveries that make this city so extraordinary. Stay tuned!

Hasenhatz zur Rokokozeit – Bewegung in Bronze
Mit der „Hasenhatz zur Rokokozeit“ von Max Baumbach endet meine Serie über die Skulpturen der Fasanerieallee – und eindrucksvoller könnte der Abschluss kaum sein. Diese Bronzeskulptur, die sich im Tiergarten erhebt, ist ein Meisterwerk der Bewegung. Die Spannung der Jagd ist in jeder Linie zu spüren: Die Hunde in voller Jagdmanier, Muskeln angespannt, die Jäger mit energischer Gestik, der Moment eingefangen, als wäre er lebendig. Die Szene scheint in der nächsten Sekunde weitergehen zu wollen – eine beeindruckende Leistung des Bildhauers, die zeigt, wie dynamisch Skulpturen sein können.
Doch auch hier darf nicht unerwähnt bleiben, dass die dargestellte Gewalt gegen Tiere heute ethisch mehr als fragwürdig erscheint. Die Jagd als aristokratisches Vergnügen, das in solchen Kunstwerken glorifiziert wird, wirft einen kritischen Blick auf vergangene Zeiten und Werte.
