Hello. Here is post 2 in my travel series. On the way to Guangzhou, China from Toronto there is a long layover in Dubai provided by Emirates Airline. This post covers my layover day, hotel food, tour bus pictures and plus some pictures from the Dubai Mall.
Copthorne Airport Hotel
The name of the hotel provided by the Emirates airline is called Copthorne Airport Hotel Dubai.
For stopovers that are 11 to 24 hours airline passengers on Emirates flight receive complimentary stays in this hotel in Dubai. Food is also provided during your stay.
Getting To The Airport Hotel
From Dubai International Airport you have to pass through security in the arrivals area first. Once you exit you should walk along a path to your left. On your right you should see a Carrefour store. Behind it there is an area with a reception desk. When you get there request for an airport hotel shuttle bus. The front desk will ask for your Emirates ticket and hotel voucher. Once there is enough people in the waiting lobby your group will be escorted to a shuttle bus to the hotel.
Copthorne Airport Hotel Room
The room I got was a room with two beds. This room was all for me. To turn on the lights you had to place your room card in the slot near the front door.
The bathroom features a bath tub, sink and a toilet. Beside the toilet is a manual spray bidet device. To spray water from the bidet device you have to lift instead of press.
This bathroom does have ceramic floors and you have to watch your steps. I used a towel or two for the floor to prevent slipping.
For a free hotel room the room is pretty good. A room like this in Toronto would easily be 150 CAD per night. (Toronto hotel costs are high compared to China & Vienna, Austria.)
How Hotel Buffet Meals Work
The hotel stay was around 23 hours. This Copthorne Airport Hotel provides complimentary buffet meals during your hotel stay provided by Emirates airline. There is a buffet restaurant near the hotel entrance. When you enter the place there is a reception desk with staff there. Present your airline ticket as verification. Once accepted you can enter, find available seating and gather food.
As our travel group were at Dubai around 23 hours we had buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner provided. That is three buffet meals provided during the free hotel stay at Emirates. The food options do vary between breakfast and lunch and dinner. What stays the same are the fruits, desserts and the salad bar. The food is mostly from Middle Eastern cuisine, Indian cuisine (eg Biryani), Western food with some Malaysian/Indonesian food.
