Travel Blog 03 - Tour Bus In Dubai + Dubai Mall

in TravelFeed21 days ago

Hi there. In this travel series post I cover my trip when I was in Dubai.

After getting settled in Dubai with entering the hotel plus buffet food, our travel group decided to go on this tour bus ride.

Tour Bus In Dubai's 40 Degree C Weather

At the airport hotel there is a store that sells guided bus tours in Dubai. The price was something like 30 or 40 CAD per person. The currency in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is called the UAE Dirham (AED). This tour bus guide lasts two hours.

The summer weather in Dubai was 40 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. It was stupid hot and unsafe. The tour bus guide mentioned that many people choose to stay inside because of the extreme heat. It is better to be in Dubai outside of the summer months as the heat is not extreme. How in the world do food delivery people operate in this extreme heat??? When it came to taking photos outside we had to do it quickly (5 minutes to 10 minutes) as the heat was insane.

This tour bus trip was mainly sightseeing with the guide talking about important places in Dubai, the economy of Dubai & UAE, showing some places where rich people live, and visiting some random shop. The bus took us to some store where one of the associates was doing some sales pitch for a small rug with gold pieces and embroidery on it. Then the sales guy was talking about selling gemstones like Amethyst, Citrine and the like. I was sitting there kind of not impressed as I did not expect this nor I was planning to shop in Dubai. My shopping interests were for China (more specifically Shenzhen).

Dubai Mall

Instead of going back to the hotel from the bus trip, our travel group requested that we would get dropped off at the Dubai Mall. The tour bus was okay with this. They dropped off anyone that wanted to go to the mall.

We got dropped off on the opposite side of the mall. This meant we had to cross the street and try to endure 10-15 minutes of extreme 40 degrees Celsius heat. Our group plus two other travellers from the tour bus made it to the mall. The mall entrance we entered into was the luxury stores side of the mall.

The Burj Khalifa building was near the mall. It would have been a longer walk in this extreme heat. We decided to pass on this.

Waterfall Section In Dubai Mall

I did do quite of bit of research on China and Dubai Mall before this trip. I did hear about a Waterfall in the mall. We found it.

Chinatown Section Of Dubai Mall

To our surprise there is a Chinatown section of the Dubai Mall. This mall is really quite large. This section was not the busiest section of the mall but there were some nice things to look at. I took pictures of these neon lights sign and this giant Panda structure.

In the Dubai mall there is a taxi section for pickups. Our travel group went there. We took a taxi from the Dubai mall to our Airport hotel. The cost for the six of us was not too high. It was maybe around 50 CAD after currency conversion from AED. The trip took around 20 minutes or so.

Rest & Getting Ready For Next Flight

I don't remember the exact details other than maybe one more buffet meal, resting for the evening. There might have been waking up early to catch the morning flight from Dubai International Airport to Guangzhou, China.

The next travel post in the series will be about Dubai International Airport visit 1 and the flight from Dubai to Guangzhou, China.

Thank you for reading.
