Hello there. In this China travel post series this ninth post covers our group's visit to Shanghai, China. The main thing we visited the day after arriving into Shanghai was The Bund and its surrounding area.
Getting To The Bund & Nanjing Road
The Bund is accessible by Shanghai's Metro system. You want to get to Nanjing Road station. Once you get there find the correct exit. If you choose the wrong exit it is still okay. Just find your way to a major crosswalk section where there is a Huawei store on your right side across the road.
Pictures Near The Bund
Once you pass the Huawei store you are heading in the right direction towards the Bund. You should pass by an Anta store and see the Peace Hotel on your left. There is another crosswalk or two before The Bund.
The Bund, River and Shanghai Tower On The Other Side
You should see a tripod looking tower up ahead. There is also a large crosswalk. Once you cross this crosswalk, walk up a ramp and see water you are the Bund.
On one side of the street you see European style buildings on one side.
Some Food & Other Pictures
We did have lunch near The Bund. There is a food market nearby where there are many food stalls. Our group decided to try this one place where the food dishes are pre-prepared. The prices are more expensive than I originally thought. It is a bit of tourist trap. Here are the food pictures.
After lunch we decided to go towards People's Square and its station. As it was expected to be 35 degrees Celsius in the Summer afternoon it was best to go back and rest at the hotel. Afterwards the plan was to eat dinner and head back to The Bund at night.
