Travel Post 21 - Ibis Hotel Review In Xi'An, China

in TravelFeed2 days ago

Hi there. In this travel post, I do a hotel review of the Ibis Hotel in Xi'An, China. This is the Daming Palace West Subway station location.

A Super Affordable Hotel In China

This Ibis Hotel is one of the most affordable hotel finds for our travel group. At the time a room for up to 3 guests with a double bed and a single bed costs around 65 CAD per night. Nowhere in Toronto can you find even a cheap motel for this price.

The hotel is near the Daminggong West station on Line 2 in red above the blue line. The walk from hotel to the station is around 8 to 10 minutes. It is near a supermarket, a pharmacy, a couple of fast food places and other stores.

This location is nice as it is near the Bell Tower (Zhonglou). It is 4 stops away from Daminggong West station.

Front & Lobby Area

Here is the front of the hotel and lobby area.

The lobby area is quite open, spacious and colourful. You can find the front desk quite easily as you enter. There are two seating areas. One on the right and one on the left side. They have a cafe area where they sell coffee and teas. I don't think the cafe is used much though.

Hotel Room Pictures

In the room the bathroom is on your right, the two beds are on the right after the bathroom. The room provides a cute red couch with Ibis branded pillows. This room is not super big but there is enough room for 3 adults. Our travel group philosophy is to choose hotel rooms at affordable prices with a good location near a subway stop. The hotel room is mainly for sleeping.

On the left side is where the TV is with a featured background. The TV is small for those who want to lie down on the bed and watch from the other side of the room.

The bathroom has a toilet with a shower. I thought I had a picture of the bathroom door but I do have a mirror picture showing the bathroom door. It is a see through bathroom door for some odd reason. There is no privacy for bathroom users. What you can do is use a towel and tape to cover part of the glass bathroom door. Maybe this see through bathroom door is why the hotel room price is low. I don't know if this is with other Ibis Hotels in China and in other countries.

Mirror showing bathroom door with lack of privacy.

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5

If the TV was larger and the bathroom door was not glass and see through I would bump up my rating to 4.5 out of 5. The affordable price is something too good to ignore. The location of this Ibis Hotel is okay with a 8 to 10 minute walk to the nearest metro station. Some may want something even closer to a metro station with a 5 minute walk from a hotel.

Thank you for reading.
