After spending some days in Valladolid and Merida we made it to Bacalar. I had seen pictures of the lagoon but I really didn’t expect it to be this beautiful.
It felt like you were in a private island somewhere like Indonesia or the Maldives.
When I thought it couldn’t get better we got to our hotel. It was in the middle of the jungle and every family had their own small house.
However, the best part about it was the lagoon area. It had a small private dock where you could lay down, relax or jump in the water.
This was basically paradise. The water was cristal clear and the temperature was quite warm .
So if you ever visit Mexico make sure to make a quick stop in Bacalar.
We stayed at Villas Ecotucan which I give five stars and recommend to anyone who visits Bacalar.
@elpatoverde looks like a wonderful place to stay for weeks, relaxing and chilling!!!

Wasn't this called "la laguna de los siete colores"? I liked this one a lot as well, but I didn't go swimming in it since the water was not very cristal clear because of bad weather that was coming... I didn't stay the night there neither, but would definitely reconsider now that i'm seeing your pictures! !CTP
Yes! it’s called the “la laguna de los siete colores” because you’re supposed to see the 7 colors of the lagoon. This was one of my favorite places and I’m considering volunteering in that area in the future.
Why volunteering? Wouldn't you go for a real job? Why not?
The villa where we were staying was absolutely beautiful and all of the workers were volunteers. They worked in exchange of somewhere to sleep and access to the lagoon. That sounds to me like a good deal. However, I would only do it during a month in summer.
Ah ok, like a summer job. It seems a good deal for a student or so. Don't know what's your age and situation....
