Welcome to lovely Luang Prabang, Laos. I've been to many beautiful waterfalls, but Kuang Si is my favorite. I've had a great time and made lasting memories every time I've been lucky enough to visit. I've known people to ride bicycles, but I wouldn't recommend it. A motorcycle, van, or tuk-tuk is how most people get here from town.
They have a large parking lot where you can grab some food, drinks, or do some shopping and they will send you right to the entrance in one of these electric mini-vans for free.
I like the new restaurant and cafe at the entrance.
The price to get in was just 20,000 kip or about $1.30.
I feel this was the best shot of the day even though it doesn't show any waterfalls. Nobody seems to know anything about this flower, but it was pretty big and I think someone mentioned it was poisonous.
They sell BeerLao along the way too. It costs less than a dollar.
Kuang means deer in Lao and Thai. There were many deer here in the past, but I've never seen a live deer in Laos. Local people are good hunters so there isn't much left.
It says no jumping in the water, but people always jump in anyways. You can swim in most of the pools along the way, but one is a holy site that has many signs asking you not to swim.
Rapper had a great time. He couldn't make it up a few steps, but he swam like a champ. I wish they could stay cute like this forever. Rapper looks just like his mom and he has many puppies that look just like him now.
Is Big Always Best?
When you think of Lao wildlife do you imagine bears tigers and elephants? We often think big animals are more interesting and that there are lots of different species of mammals, birds, and reptiles, but up to 95% of animal species in forests are actually insects! Without insects, Luang Prabang's forests would ultimately die because there would be almost no pollinators or decomposers. Without people can you guess what would happen? Insects common to Luang Prabang include brightly colored butterflies, spiders such as beautiful orb-weavers, dragonflies, bees, wasps, termites, camouflage stick insects, huge colonies of ants, and of course mosquitoes.

We rented a van with my friends for 300,000 kip or about $19 to take us there and back. The van was very large and clean. I felt bad for bringing my dog, but he didn't make a mess.
I've taught, fed, and bathed Rapper every day, but he still loves her more.

Entrance for $1.30 and a beer for a dollar, very little you could get here for those prices, haven't bought a beer for years, but I remember a beer in a Pub being $5 or more
