Despite being a municipality in Aragua State, the place where I was born and raised, Tovar is a place I never explored. Once in 2013 I sang at a concert in the popular church of Colonia Tovar, that beautiful little town lost in time with German architecture of yesteryear, but that time I focused on music and I do not remember any particular adventure, but this time it was different, it was a family trip to finish the Christmas vacations and the most fun place we met is the one I share with you today, The Crossbow...
I remember it was time for lunch, and although we did not know the area, we were told about a restaurant called La Ballesta. This picture above was the first thing I saw when I got there. La Ballesta was not only a restaurant, but a whole complex of attractions for tourists to enjoy, in fact I will tell you that it was not in this place where we had lunch, and the only thing that was closed was precisely the restaurant, but we took the opportunity to visit and take many pictures; I think that if we had gone with children, they would have enjoyed this place much more than us adults, and now I will tell you why...
It turns out that La Ballesta is not only the restaurant where we planned to have lunch, it is literally a place to shoot this gun and the adults were very happy trying their hand at target shooting. On the other hand the kids had the chance to play on the zip line and boy were they happy. My wife and I gave it a try, but hunger kept us from thinking. Here there was also the opportunity to ride in small all terrain cars and horseback rides, it was a magical place, and as I said above, possibly the most fun in all of Colonia Tovar.
We did not stay alone in this area, we enjoyed a while watching others having fun in the attractions and we went out to look for coffee in the surroundings, although it is a town distributed along the mountain roads, it is not so easy to get a place nearby in this area far from the center. We passed by the Christmas tree and the sign that says Colonia Tovar and took some pictures and then walked to some small kiosks that could be seen in the distance. We did not find coffee in fact it was much better and we had a traditional and much needed hot chocolate from this tourist destination.
Without a doubt I should return to La Ballesta, maybe with my wife, but not with our mothers and enjoy a little more of the activities that take place here. This trip was family and we did not want to give them headaches doing activities that would bother them, on the other hand, I think it is good to go at a different time and not so hungry, unless the promised restaurant is open. We were there in the middle of the day and apparently it wasn't working. Anyway, this is a place I recommend to all those who visit Colonia Tovar and are looking for a little more adrenaline and not just strolling around the picturesque town. Thanks to all of you who read and support me, I wish you a happy day...
