In 2018, the Greek Square was opened in Odessa. In fact, this is a reconstruction of the old Lunar Park. After carrying out all the work, the park turned into a Greek square. It was equipped thanks to the financial support of Panteleimon Vasilyevich Bumbaras. This is his gift to the city.
Why was it worth building such a square?
Do not forget that the Greeks made a huge contribution to the development of the city. Even in the distant times of Greek migration, when the Greek city-states were created, a settlement was founded here.
The fact that there was a settlement here is confirmed by the results of archaeological excavations. By the way, you can admire the artifacts on the territory of Primorsky Boulevard. Some of them have become decorations of the square itself.
In general, if we analyze the written and material evidence, we can understand that several Greek settlements were founded on the Odessa coast. There is even a map of these same settlements.
Conversation for the square itself
It is located on one side of Primorsky Boulevard. It starts near the Vorontsov Palace.
The main composition is the fountain-monument "Beginning of Beginnings" or "Link of Times". This is a unique attraction, the author of which is Reva.
As soon as you go down the stairs from Primorsky Boulevard, you immediately come across a copy of the ancient Greek bark. This is an exact copy of the sculpture, which is in the National Museum of Greece in Athens. It belongs to the 5th - 6th century BC.
The sculpture “Eden. Please note that it is made in the form of an apple. Even in the center of the opened fruit there is another, smaller one. This personifies the Biblical myth that it was Eve who tasted the forbidden fruit. Do not forget that this is the same apple.
Next we see the sculpture "The Birth of the Soul". Here you need to turn on the imagination. Each person will have their own associations when they look at this attraction.
Let's take a break. Greek Square is a place where you can think about the meaning of the universe. About the times when man appeared. About his sin. About the birth of the soul and normal human values. We must remember that we are naturally born. Each of us is the fruit of love between a man and a woman. Moral principles are given to us by nature. Do not forget about the covenants of the ancestors.
