Zhangjiajie, a scenic wonderland in central China's Hunan Province was brought into the spotlight via the epic science fiction film "Avatar" in 2009. The Hallelujah Mountains, floating in the air above Pandora in the film, were inspired by the Southern Sky Column in the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.
Many Chinese fantasy mythology films and animations, like "White Snake: Afloat," "Monster Hunt" and "Monkey King: Hero Is Back," were also inspired by the striking sandstone pillars and peaks in Zhangjiajie to show the movie characters flying through the stone forest in the wonderland freely. In the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, there are more than 3,000 narrow sandstone pillars and peaks, and ravines with gorges with streams, pools and waterfalls lying between the peaks. To provide visitors with an experience similar to the movies, the forest park leverages its spectacular scenery and tourist projects, including shuttle buses, cable ropeways and the Bailong Elevator allowing visitors the taste of a fairyland. #ChinaTravel #ChinaSeen
