In my last travel post I showed you our "Top of Innsbruck" hike and in this post I will discuss the continuation of that, with a few extra stories of things that came up as we headed down the mountain.
First we stopped for a light lunch and a coffee.
What better place to take in the view of the city than way above it on the side of a mountain?
My wife and I took a few selfies while we waited for our food to arrive.
These images remind me of a "spot the difference" picture.
I watched some black birds hanging out on the ledge there waiting for scraps of food to be left behind by the restaurant patrons.
The menu at the restaurant was pretty simple up there, mainly consisting of sausage and sauerkraut, apple strudel and this dish that I order that was basically a potato hash with sausage and a fried egg on top.
It was simple but very good, so two thumbs up from me.
The coffee was good as well.
After our meal we walked over to this lookout installation located a little ways down from the restaurant.
It was a metal structure jutting out from the side of the mountain and looked pretty neat from above.
My father in law had this green bag that he talked about for our entire trip in Austria, how he has had it for over 20 or 30 years or more, and how it has been with him on nearly ever trip he has taken since he originally bought it.
He had a sore knee that day so I offered to carry the bag for a while to reduce the weight on him.
Every little bit counts when your knee hurts, I know that from my own knee issue experience. At one point I thought that it would be funny to pretend that the bag was in danger.
He did not like that at all and was super hesitant to let me carry it for him going forward. I had to keep assuring him that I wouldn't do it again. Really, the fall wasn't far and I could have easily retrieved it had it slipped from my hand. Anyway...
When we first got to the look out structure there was this couple and another traveler on the end having a conversation. I hung back a little and took some photos of the surroundings while I waited for them to finish their discussion. I didn't think that it would take long, but I ended up being wrong about that.
They carried on for quite a while while we waited for them to move away from the end so that we could look out. This was one of those situations where you're like, "Seriously? I get that you were here first but there is a 100 acres of surrounding land to carry on a conversation, but there's only one lookout. Lets move it along people!" If ylthey were looking out at the view, then I wouldn't care if they took their time, but since they were just chit chattin away, it would have been nice if they stepped aside so that others could use the thing. We said nothing about it of course, we just subtly hovered around them waiting until they got the hint.
I took the photo with bag while we waited and some pictures of the avalanche guards on the mountain.
There were a lot of them scattered around up there.
Eventually the people moved on and we had the lookout to ourselves.
The view from there really wasn't anything different than what we had already been looking at, but you can't not check something like that out when it's there.
No one else was around so we had some time to take photos.
I always like to get a good looking out photo.

I snapped off a few more of my wife before we headed out back up the mountain to the cable car station.

An impressive place, what a wonderful iron structure coming out of the mountain. I confess that I had not seen anything like it. I was also impressed with the avalanche protectors since there is no snow in my country.
And what annoying people, some really don't get the hints.
No snow isn't a bad thing. Snow can be nice for a very brief period of time but then it gets pretty annoying - bad roads, endless shoveling of driveways, cold...etc
I would enjoy living someplace warm year round.

Oh my goodness, that place is incredibly beautiful, and a little bit scary ( for some people who's afraid og heights ) I imagine my reaction if I could have the chance to witness it myself, huhu. It must be the most incredible day of my life!
Yeah a mountain isn't the most ideal spot for someone afraid of heights lol. Great views from up there though.
