One of Our Most Frequented Beaches in Trinidad!

Beautiful Trails and Warm Waters

Macqueripe in Trinidad is one of those unorthodox beaches that you may find. Its not the kind of beach you would expect to get to and immediately see sand and waters. Macqueripe (pronounced mackereep) is preceeded by a beautiful nature trail, about a 2 minute walk, with wonderful trees and vegetation that takes you from a height all the way down to the ocean below. It is a bit taxing on the legs due to the steepness but the walk is worth it!

The Entrance

The trail is well paved and lined on both sides with wooden fencing in case you need something to hold on to. There are usually all sorts of animals lurking in and around the flora including monkeys and beautifully colored parrots. You can usually hear these fauna as well as the zip line way above the canopy that was recently set up for recreational purposes.

Once you get to the end of the trail, there is a spectacular view of the water! It is basically a bay or cove of sorts with beautiful blue/ green waters and inviting sand. The shore is not as long as a regular beach due to the hills on each side, contributing to the unique feel and look of the experience. It is almost a cozy feeling if that makes sense and the sounds of the waves are very different from a conventional beach as well. Not to mention, you are shielded pretty well from the sun for most part of the day via the surrounding hills and foliage leaving you to bathe in a nice cool environment. This is great for people who have photosensitive skin or for those who would like to forgo a tan!

Look at that water! Macqueripe is on of our go to beaches as of recently, well before the lock down that is. It feels so dystopian to say that. It is relatively easy and quick to get to this beach from the main cities and urban areas compared to other beaches. This means that more often than not, whenever you decide to hit the beach spontaneously while out and about, it would be a first choice as it does not require a whole "trip" or any sort of preparation. I'll leave you with some photography I've done there on the last visit! Thanks a lot for reading, Cheers!
