This was the view from Grand high Tops Lookout on our first visit to the Warrumbungle's back in 2020. Funny how it was still worth the hike even with all the cloud and wind.

This trip was completely different and almost too hot even though it was roughly the same time of year.
It was a lot easier following the path this time too.
We never got lost last time but we were always double checking and on the look for the yellow markers in the mist and fog.
There were great view every where this time, no matter which way we looked. The square one is called Lugh's Throne.
This whole area was once a big volcano and the famous bread knife rock formation was once part of a rim.
This big grey Kangaroo looked old enough and to have seen the volcano in action.
We saw a couple of big goannas as well.

This hike is classed as 4 out of 5 by the New South Wales National parks. We took a 12 kilometer out and back option with a short loop at the top as it was a pretty hot day. We did the bigger loop back to the car park last time but the best views all on the main track. There was only a little bit of rock scrambling right at the top with the rest being really well worn paths, stairs and even a few paved sections. There was about a 700 metres of elevation gain to get us to the 1000 metre top in about 4 hours.
