Queensland Museum, Brisbane, Australia.

in TravelFeed2 months ago

I really like a good museum! I was totally amazed when I was lucky enough to visit the National Museum of National History in Washing DC back in 2018, but had never visited my local Museum even though I have lived here for more than 25 years. I have walked and driven past it many times but this was the first time inside.

Entry is free to the main area and I am sure they do not have any where near the budget of any of the big American set ups but over all I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed the couple of hours we spend wandering around.

Brisbane city is looking very clean and organised as we were walked to the museum along a pedestrian over pass above the bus way. The new curved casino building to the right is almost finished.

Queensland is Megadiverse! I think it is because of all the untouched rain forest way up in the northern parts.

The Museum is not that big but does have 5 levels to explore.

Nowadays kangaroos are big, up to 2 metres but the mega ones must have been really scary.

I have never seen a Platypus in the wild but have seen a couple of Echidna’s over the years.

We get those tawny frog mouths at the bottom of the display in our back yard, they look so much like owls.

This was the only living display but I had to look closely a couple of times to see it move.
