RE: Exploring A Soviet Era Bus Station in Tbilisi

in TravelFeed21 days ago

It's so sad seeing such a big and massive place that once served people in the past being abandoned.

If the government or union decides to make use of this place again, it will serve a greater purpose now.

Are all those buses there also abandoned because they still look okay to me?

Sort:

They are in use. I just never happen to see them actually being used. I think they just have certain runtimes, probably early in the morning or more in the evening.

It's odd that it isn't used as much, instead throughout the city there are smaller stations that clearly can't handle the number of people at them. It's odd to see when this one is perfectly fine.

Wow

That's really odd. Maybe they have reasons best known to them on why they don't use this space with big capacity as much.

Either way, thank you for making this post; at least I got to learn something new about a different country.

It's quite common in countries that were in the Soviet Union. Either buildings were just abandoned and are still left idle throughout the countries, or they've been decaying rapidly with strong neglect and no attention to maintain them while still being used, albeit for usually different purposes than intended.
