I watched a show the other day that talked about the very high cost airlines have to pay the airport to use the landing strip. They can charge extortionate fees for landing, taking off and for overnight. It's also based on the weight of the plane. Has anyone else heard this?

I suppose they can charge whatever they want. If the airlines don't like it, land somewhere else. There are probably some controls but I think this is why we see larger cities having alternate airports and why the cheap flights all tend to land at the "other" airport.
