Last week, I decided to take a much-need break from the stressful and busy schedule and embark on an adventure to Buwakan ni Alejandra (Buwakan is a visayan word which means flower garden and Alejandra is the name of the owner’s mother), a stunning flower garden located in the picturesque town of Balamban, Cebu. The journey from Danao City to Balamban was a delightful lead up to the floral wonderland that awaited me.
As I was heading on my journey to Buwakan ni Alejandra, I couldn’t contain my excitement. I was so excited to check out this hidden gem for myself because of its colorful blossoms and instagram-worthy views. The journey from Danao City to Balamban is sure to be an exciting one, full of breathtaking scenery and cool air.
The travel from Danao City to Balamban Cebu is quite a long journey which allow me to feel the scenic ride that offers a breathtaking view on the countryside. As I hopped into the motor bike, the cool morning air and gentle breeze rejuvenated my spirits. The winding roads twisted through lush greenery, with the steep hills and valleys painting the landscape. I was captivated by the sights of the surrounding mountains at every turn, which reawakened my love and passion for the natural world.
When I finally made it to Balamban after nearly two hours, the air felt even crisper and a little cooler, which was a welcome change from the city's humidity. While traveling to Buwakan ni Alejandra, I noticed a riot of color peaking over the garden's entrance, tempting me to explore what was within. I became even more enthusiastic.
Upon entering the garden, the first thing that captured my eyes was the overwhelming combination of colors and delightful aromas that came from the flowers that filled the air. Th garden is a marvel horticulture, with an assortment that creates a vibrant tapestry of nature’s beauty. Indeed, a well-deserved break.
I was first met by a group of roses which ranged in color from light pink to deep red. The scent of the petal blossoms was intoxicated as their lovely scent dripping through the air and each petal glistened with dew creating an enchanted atmosphere. I couldn't help but pause and take a closer look at them, documenting their beauty with my camera. And then I found colorful hibiscus flowers floating in the soft wind. Their immense trumpet-shaped flowers gave the landscape an unusual character. The bright orange, yellow and red hues created a lovely contrast with the beautiful surroundings giving the garden 'their' vitality and life.
Perhaps the most beautiful surprise were the mayanas, or coleus plants, which were expertly shaped and crafted into heart forms and arch. These colorful leaves, with their intricate patterns and vibrant hues, were meticulously arranged to create charming heart-shaped displays and arch. It felt as if love was in the air, as each heart symbolized warmth and affection, amidst the natural beauty surrounding me.
What truly set the tone for my experience, however, was the warm hospitality of the staff. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and friendly waves, instantly making me feel welcome. They offered insights into various flower species displayed throughout the garden and shared the story behind this fascinating paradise. You don’t have to worry if you travel alone, and no one will take your picture because they also offered to take your pictures if you want to. How nice and kind they are!
Buwakan ni Alejandra is more than just a flower garden; it’s a retreat that reconnects you with the nature. After wandering around through the various flower beds, taking pictures, and simply breathing in the beauty and just enjoying the breath-taking view, I felt rejuvenated and relax. The vivid colors, fragrant aromas, and the tranquility of the place combined to offer a true escape from reality. Indeed, a break that I deserve!
If you ever find yourself looking for peaceful gateway in Cebu, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Buwakan ni Alejandra in Balamban. The alluring beauty of the rose, hibiscus, the heart shaped mayanas and many other kinds of flowers, combined with the refreshing coolness of the air, as well as the hospitality of the staff, creates an experience that is both calming and uplifting. Whether you’re a flower enthusiast or simply in need of a serene escape, this garden is sure to leave a lasting impression. So, pack your bags, grab your camera, and let the magic of Buwakan ni Alejandra take your breath away!
