Summer doesn’t end just because it rains—just like life doesn’t stop when happiness feels out of reach. For my family, happiness never ends. We believe in finding joy, even in tough times. That’s why our trip with Sands and Waves Island Hopping Travel and Tours in Mactan Islands felt like finding a star on a cloudy night.
We chose to go to Mactan Islands with the help of Sands and Waves Travel and Tours because they offer amazing activities! They’re partnered with one of the best water sports providers in Lapu-Lapu City, so we got to try parasailing, banana boat rides, dragon boats, Jetskie, and more. Plus, we could visit different islands in one trip, which made it even more exciting—my family loves exploring islands. My cousins were all in for the adventure, and these fun activities brought us even closer as a family.
My Expectation
Before the trip, we had high hopes! We wanted the journey to be safe, not just for the adults but also for the little ones. The variety of activities gave us so many ways to enjoy, and it helped that the tour operators prioritized safety. They even pause tours if they think the waters are unsafe, which made us feel confident about going.
We also expected to enjoy the ride, not just because of their offers but because we were experiencing it as a family. And nothing beats having fun together!

Mactan Islands is located in Poblacion, Cordova, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. This destination offers a picturesque escape surrounded by lush islands and crystal-clear waters, ideal for travelers seeking a serene retreat into nature. The area provides a peaceful contrast to the bustling urban life of Cebu City, making it perfect for relaxation and aquatic adventures.
One unique thing about the place is how the locals have turned island hopping into a business opportunity. You’ll find small boats selling snacks and supplies right on the water—perfect for tourists who might forget something. It’s really convenient, especially since going back to shore just to buy something isn’t practical.
Additionally, this destination boasts mangrove forests, pristine beaches, and vibrant coral reefs, making it a haven for marine enthusiasts. The atmosphere seamlessly blends exotic island vibes with opportunities for both relaxation and thrilling adventure. Why do I say so? Because it offers an array of engaging activities such as snorkeling, various water sports, and more. These immersive experiences allow visitors to truly connect with the natural beauty and adventure that the area provides.
What Sand and Waves Island Hopping Travel and Tours Offers
Being a boat tour agency, Sands and Waves has rental boats with food packages at different rates. They offer tours to four sets of islands, and you can pick from the following options:
• Tour A: Talima Fish Sanctuary, Sulpa Island, and Caohagan Island
• Tour B: San Vicente Fish Sanctuary, Sulpa Island, and Caohagan Island
• Tour C: Caohagan Island, Tres-Marias, and Sulpa Island
• Tour D: Nalusuan Island, Gilutongan Island, and Caohagan Island
If you want to visit all the islands in Mactan, no problem—they allow that too! You can choose between regular boats or VIP boats, depending on your preference. Both options are safe, with free life vests and life rings included. Facilities like comfort rooms, center tables, and grilling stations are also available on the boats.
Oh, and did I mention their water sports? Parasailing, banana boats, dragon boats, Jetskie—you name it, they’ve got it! If you’re an adrenaline junkie, this is your paradise.
My Experience
For me, the most thrilling part of the trip was the banana boat ride! My cousins and I asked the operator for an extreme ride, and wow—he delivered! He threw us into the water, not just once but three times! It was hilarious and so much fun, even though I wasn’t the best swimmer. My life vest wasn’t locked properly, but luckily, everything turned out fine.
Another unforgettable moment was meeting the famous man who sells ice cream while swimming. He doesn’t use a boat—he swims through the water with his ice cream for sale! It was amazing to see him in action.
I really enjoy the landscape throughout the journey because the entire area is surrounded by deep green water that is so transparent that you can see the corals. I also admire how they clean the rivers and how much they care for the place. It's a very special place with friendly and welcoming people.
How To Get To Mactan Islands
If you want to visit here then from Cebu City, drive towards Mactan Island via the Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX). Once in Cordova, follow local signage or use a navigation app to reach the port.
This trip was everything we hoped for. From screaming our lungs out on the banana boat to chilling with family while soaking in the views, every moment was pure magic. If you’re looking for a mix of adventure and relaxation, Mactan islands is where it’s at.
