Hi dear Hive family,
In the last 48 hours, our journey took us from Hamburg city to the top of the world, Nepal. We booked the flight around 2 months ago and since then we were preparing ourselves for a long trip with only a small backpack.
We had to take the train already at 7:00 AM to reach at the airport in time. During the night the time had changed to wintertime, and we were lucky to have one hour more of sleep.
At the airport we went through the security control and they found explosive material on Tamara's backpack. Immediately, the police got alert and we needed to answer some questions. We can only explain this to us, that this were the traces of the pepper spray which we have normally with us to use against wild animals, like if a bear is trying to surprise us.
While waiting for the flight Steffen decided to call an old friend which he hasn’t spoken to for a longer time. He quickly suggested us some more places to visit once we are in India and we agreed to attend his brothers wedding in Kerala the next year.
Off we went to Istanbul in Turkey, where we only had a smaller stop to eat something. Sadly we realized too late, that the airline we flew with did not provide any free food. In Turkey all went smoothly through and we were already on another flight to Kuwait. There was a bit more chaotic. The airport is very small and only rarely some flight depart or arrive, therefore is quite lonely place to be. Unfortunately we needed to wait there for 16 hours during the half night and all day. Our next flight was only at 6 PM.
Waiting was quite crazy, many people got problems with their flights and they have strange policy regarding how long you can stay on the airport. For longer flights they should provide accommodation, but they tried to charge us with 130€ for half night that we would spent there. So we were basically just wonder around and maybe take some rest on the very uncomfortable benches.
The people from check-in noticed that we are there for way to long, so they quickly transported us two and another guy named Sefa with big bus to another terminal outside of the airport. That was funny.
After that we went all together to the coffee place and waited together. Sefa comes from Turkey and is a teacher for children in Thailand. Our time flew by faster with the good company and quickly our 6 PM flight came. The flight was full of Nepali people which were returning home. There were two nice people called Mim and Timo. We met them later when we were searching for taxi driver and a place to stay. They were very friendly and helpful.
Before that when we reached the airport in Kathmandu, big statue awaited us. Seeing this made us blissful and happy to finally reach!
Thank you for reading and get ready for the next part.
Wish you a nice day!
