After my series of travel posts about my tour in Lesbos (Midilli) island in Greece, I have started one more brand-new travel posts series today. I can say that I have had enough of traveling this year. I had so many travel post to share that my activity on HIVE has increased considerably in the fall and winter seasons as I planned. In the first week of October, I made a three-day trip to Prague, the capital of Czech Republic, and Vienna, the capital of Austria I have edited and completed the photos and texts about my Prague and Vienna tour. I think to share a post every week. I hope you enjoy reading it, thank you in advance.

Yunanistan’ın Lesbos (Midilli) adasına yaptığım gezi ile ilgili yazı serimden sonra bugün yepyeni bir gezi yazısı serisine daha başlıyorum. Bu sene gezmeye doydum diyebilirim. Yazacak o kadar çok gezi yazım oldu ki böylelikle HIVE’daki aktifliğim, planladığım gibi sonbahar ve kış mevsiminde oldukça arttı. Ekim ayının ilk haftası Çekya’nın başkenti Prag’a ve Avusturya’nın başkenti Viyana’ya toplam üç günlük bir gezi gerçekleştirdim. Prag ve Viyana gezimle ilgili fotoğrafları ve yazılarımı düzenleyip tamamladım. Her hafta bir yazı paylaşması düşünüyorum. Umarım beğenerek okursunuz, şimdiden teşekkürler.
As I mentioned in my previous travel posts, I don't like the vacation format that goes between hotel, sea and foods. I want to discover new places at homeland or abroad as much as possible. Before the pandemic, I traveled abroad every year. However, the pandemic caused millions of people, including me, to change their travel plans for at least 2 years. After the pandemic, it was time for me to start traveling abroad. Last year, I did this by going to Thessaloniki, Greece. I made some changes for the third choice of my international travel in this year. I visited the capitals of Czechia and Austria. I will write about my arrival in Prague in the first part of my Prague & Vienna travel posts series.
Önceki seyahat yazılarımda da belirttiğim gibi otel, deniz ve yemek arasında geçip giden tatil anlayışını sevmiyorum. Yurtiçinde veya yurtdışında mümkün olduğunca yeni yerler keşfetmek istiyorum. Pandemiden önce her yıl yurtdışı seyahatleri yapan biriydim. Fakat, pandemi benim gibi dünyada milyonlarca insanların seyahat planlarını en az 2 yıl değiştirmesine sebep oldu. Pandemiden sonra benim için artık yurtdışı seyahatlerime başlamanın zamanı gelmişti. Geçen sene bunu Yunanistan’ın Selanik şehrine giderek gerçekleştirdim. Bu yılki üçüncü yurtdışı seyahat tercihimde biraz değişiklik yaptım. Çekya ve Avusturya’nın başkentlerini ziyaret ettim. Prag & Viyana gezi yazısı serimin birinci bölümünde sizlere Prag’a varıştan bahsedeceğim.
In 2023, I took my first travel abroad after the pandemic. I wanted to continue this hobby this year as well, and I will continue doing so as long as global, national and financial conditions allow. As I mentioned in my previous travel post series, we had completed the visa procedures in the spring and received our visas. However, as my friend was not available for travelling this time, I was going to go to Prague and Vienna tour alone. Since my visa was still valid, I wanted to use it. I bought a flight ticket for Prague and a bus ticket for Vienna at a reasonable price in the summer. This has been a new and different experience for me. I will share my experiences about traveling alone at the end of this travel post series.
2023 yılında, pandemi sonrası ilk yurtdışı seyahatimi gerçekleştirmiştim. Bu yıl da bu hobimi devam ettirmek istedim ve küresel, ülkesel, finansal koşullar el verdiği sürece de gelecek yıllarda buna devam edeceğim. Önceki gezi yazısı serimde belirttiğim gibi arkadaşımla ilkbaharda vize prosedürlerini hallettmiş ve vizelerimizi almıştık. Fakat, bu kez, arkadaşım müsait olmadığı için Prag ve Viyana turuna tek başıma gidecektim Vizem devam ettiği için de vizemi kullanmak istedim. Yazın uygun fiyata Prag için uçak, Viyana içinse otobüs biletini almıştım. Bu da benim için yeni ve farklı bir deneyim oldu. Tek başına gezmek ile ilgili deneyimlerini bu gezi yazısı serisinin sonunda paylaşacağım.
Since it was going to be a three-day tour, I took a few things with me. My luggage allowance on the plane didn’t allow more than three kgs anyway. As the plane’s departure time was 10 a.m., I got up early, had breakfast, and headed to Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, which is an hour away. In the years before the pandemic, I had always started my international travel from this airport. It had been a long time since I last time was at the airport due to the pandemic. Frankly, I missed this airport :) After passing the first checkpoint, I passed the second checkpoint and got in line for passport control.
Üç günlük bir tur olacağı için yanıma çok şey almadım. Zaten uçaktaki bagaj hakkımda üç kilodan fazlasına izin vermiyordu. Uçak kalkış saati sabah 10 olduğu için erkenden kalkıp kahvaltımı yaptım ve bana bir saat uzaklıkta olan Sabiha Gökçen Uluslararası Havalimanı’na doğru yola çıktım. Pandemiden önceki yıllarda yurtdışı gezilerime hep bu havalimanından çıkmıştım. Pandemi nedeniyle havalimanına gelmeyeli uzun zaman olmuştu. Açıkcası burayı özlemiştim : ) İlk kontrol noktasını geçtikten sonra ikinci control noktasından da geçtim ve pasaport kontrolü için sıraya girdim.
Even though it was morning, the airport was quite crowded. After going through passport control, I spent some time in Duty Free and waited for the flight. The flight time had come. After the checks by Pegasus Airlines officials at the boarding gate, the passengers boarded the plane. It had started to rain shortly after getting into the plane. For this reason, the plane took off approximately 40 minutes later than planned.
Sabah saatleri olmasına karşın havalimanı oldukça kalabalıktı. Pasaport kontrolünden de geçtikten sonra biraz Duty Free’de zaman geçirdim, uçuş saatini bekledim. Uçuş saati gelmişti. Uçağa geçiş kapısında Pegasus Havayolları yetkililerinin kontrollerinden sonra yolcular uçağa geçti. Uçağa bindikten kısa bir süre sonra yağmur başladı. Bu nedenle uçak planlanandan yaklaşık 40 dakika geç kalktı.
Finally the plane took off. I am sure that the first minutes after take-off are always difficult for everyone. We had a two hour and 10 minute journey ahead of us. I can say that less than half of the plane was full. This was a good thing because those who did not like their seat, like me, could change their seat during the flight. Having sat an empty window seat, I took photos from the plane. As far as I could see from the GPRS of my phone, our route was Romania-Hungary-Slovakia-Czechia. In other words, we would pass over the Central European countries. As can be seen from the photos, there were mostly agricultural areas, but less trees. When we were over Czechia, it was obvious that the number of trees or forests increased.
Nihayet uçak havalanmıştı. Eminim ki kalkıştan sonraki ilk dakikalar herkes için hep zor olmaktadır. Önümüzde iki saat 10 dakikalık bir yolculuk vardı. Uçağın yarısından azı doluydu diyebilirim. Bu güzel bir şeydi çünkü benim gibi oturduğu koltuğu beğenmeyenler daha sonra koltuğunu değiştirebilecekti. Cam kenarı olan boş bir koltuğua geçtikten sonra uçaktan fotoğraflar çektim. Telefonumdaki GPRS’den baktığım kadarıyla güzergahımız Romanya-Macaristan-Slovakya-Çekya şeklindeydi. Yani Orta Avrupa ülkelerinin üzerinden geçecektik. Fotoğraflardan da anlaşıldığı gibi ağırlıklı tarım alanları vardı, ama ağaç sayısı azdı. Çekya’ya gelince ağaç veya orman sayısının arttığı bariz görünüyordu.
We landed at Prague Václav Havel Airport safely. After waiting half an hour at passport control, I passed through passport control with no problem. For those who don't know, you can go to another Schengen country with a visa obtained from any Schengen country. In order to avoid problems in subsequent visa applications, it is recommended to enter the country where the visa was obtained at first and to stay in that country for the longest time during the entire visa period.
Prag Václav Havel Havaalanı’na sorunsuz bir şekilde inmiştik. Pasaport kontrolü sırasında yarım saat bekledikten sonra pasaport kontrolünden de sorun yaşamadan geçtim. Bilmeyenler için söyleyeyim, herhangi bir Schengen ülkesinden alınan bir vize ile başka bir Schengen ülkesine gidilebiliyor. Sonraki vize başvurularında sorun yaşmamak adına ilk olarak vize alınan ülkeye giriş yapılması ve tüm vize kullanım süresi içinde en uzun o ülkede kalınmış olması tavsiye edilir.
There are two terminals at Prague Vaclav Havel Airport. Buses that can take you to the Old Town or New Town metro depart from here. I took bus number 59 because I had researched it beforehand. You can easily buy a bus ticket from the kiosks. I was going to get off at Můstek station, where metro lines A and B intersect in the old town. For this, I got off at the last stop of bus number 59, Nádraží Veleslavín, and transferred directly to the metro. After five stops, I got off at Můstek station, which is the closest station to the hotel, and started walking towards the hotel.
Prag Václav Havel Havaalanı’nda iki tane Terminal bulunmaktadır. Prag Eski veya Yeni Şehre metro aktarması yapabileceğiniz otobüsler buradan kalkmaktadır. Ben daha önceden araştırdığım için 59 nolu otobüse bindim. Otobüs biletini Kiosklardan kolayca alabiliyorsunuz. Ben eski şehirde A ve B metro hatlarının kesiştiği Můstek istasyonunda inecektim. Bunun için 59 nolu otobüsün son durağı Nádraží Veleslavín durağında inip direk metroya aktarma yaptım. Beş durak sonra otele en yakın konumdan olan Můstek istasyonunda indim ve otele doğru yürümeye başladım.

It's a pity that lately, pilots or stewards on the plane, are not saying over which country/city are you flying over... It would be great to know the names of cities underneath and to connect those great aerial photos with them!
I haven't visited Prague yet, but it is on my travel list! Can't wait for your next posts to get it know a bit better!
