Today I will tell you about our vacation in 2018. We chose the island of Cyprus for the trip.
Cyprus is an island in the Mediterranean, very diverse and heterogeneous. Each region, each town has its own characteristics. I will tell about the main resort cities now.
Larnaca
This is where we arrived.
The airport is located right in the city, which is very convenient, relatively inexpensive accommodation, interesting architecture, affordable shopping and a variety of souvenirs.
Disadvantages - fewer beaches and gray sand. It is worth noting that the rhythm of life in Larnaca is more normal than a leisurely resort. Therefore, the rest here is more suitable for retirees and families with children. As you know, we do not like such a holiday.
Having rented a car near the airport, we decided to go to Ayia Napa. It should be noted that in Cyprus there is left-hand traffic, and at first it is not convenient for Ukrainians with little experience of driving. But the locals are understanding and let tourists in incomprehensible situations (in rented cars red numbers).
Ayia Napa
It is one of the most popular regions, located on the coast near Cape Greco. It has a hot climate, cozy bays, spacious snow-white beaches and a bustling nightlife.
Especially, what I wanted to talk about separately is the culinary traditions of Cyprus, they are closely related to Turkish and Greek cuisine.
Dishes to try: meze - a set lunch of 15-20 dishes, usually served in taverns, meze is meat, fish and vegetables, first there are light snacks, then salads, and then the main dishes from the chef. We ordered the fish appetizer for four, or rather three appetizers for all.
And then we realized that we made a big mistake, because we brought so many dishes that we would not physically eat. So I had to take half of everything home with me.
So, in Cyprus it is very cool and comfortable. I will write about beaches separately)
